Computer security is one of the biggest things we are asked advice on. Both in terms of Anti-virus and Wireless Networks Security our customers like to know they are secure. When visiting new clients for the first time it is surprising how many unsecured wireless networks and expired Anti-virus packages we come across.

Anti-virus

• Do you you have Anti-virus Installed?
• Is it a paid for subscription to an Anti-virus package or are you using the free one?
• If it is subscription based, is it still valid?
• Is it up to date?

If you answered no to any of the above questions about Anti-virus then you do probably need some assistance. While free anti-virus software is better than nothing, if you use the internet a lot, use internet banking, buy online or anything confidential like that then you should really consider a more advanced package that includes Identity Protection of some sort.

For many years we have highly recommended AVG Anti-Virus software packages and more recently, after some thorough testing we are proud to also be able to offer and recommend Panda Cloud Protection packages. Wireless Network Security

Wireless security for most homes and small businesses require only one question, Do you need a password to connect to your wireless network when adding a new machine?

If the answer is no, then you really need that network secured asap because anyone nearby could be using your internet connection for goodness knows what!  If you have a password that is on the bottom of the wireless modem router then chances are it is quite a short password and really you should be using a higher level of security, especially if you are regular at online banking, ordering online or use the internet for anything confidential.

AVG Family Safety

AVG Family Safety is similar to Net Nanny – it is an internet security software that is used to protect and monitor your children from harmful and illegal website data.

Family Safety is highly efficient and allows you to create a personalized account by filtering out specific or categorized websites, social networks, and even words and phrases from search engines.  You are also able to monitor remotely what your children go onto by receiving updated messages to your phone or emails, and being able to limit internet access.

AVG are currently holding a deal of a 1 year subscription on 3 PCs for only 95 pence (inc VAT)!  It is usually £14.95 (inc VAT).  However a 1 year subscription can work with up to 10PCs for £37.49 (inc VAT).
