How to import your Outlook contacts to your AVG 9 Whitelist

June 27, 2010 – 9:00 am

Are you finding that some emails from friends and family are sneaking into your Junk Mail/Spam folder?  A whitelist is an approved list of email contacts.  By adding your Outlook contacts to your AVG whitelist you’re telling AVG that they are safe and should not be classified as Spam/Junk.  This not only makes your life easier (because you’re not having to move your friends from your junk mail folder) but it also helps AVG improve it’s performance.

Here’s how to setup your whitelist on AVG 9:

  1. Open the AVG User Interface by either double clicking on the icon in the bottom right-hard corner of your screen, or by clicking Start -> All Programs -> AVG 9.0 -> AVG User Interface
  2. In the AVG Interface select tools and then click advanced settings
  3. Click on the (+) arrow next to ‘Anti-Spam’
  4. Select Whitelist
  5. Select Import
  6. Now select Microsoft Outlook by clicking in the corresponding circle to ensure there is a dot in it.  Then click Next.
  7. Select a profile name by typing in the box then click OK
  8. Select which contacts you wish to add to your list by ticking the box next to their name
  9. Click finish
  10. Finally to finish click OK to confirm all the changes you’ve made
