How to Customize the Windows 7 or Vista ‘Send To’ Menu

Each time you right-click on a file/folder in Windows 7 and Vista you have the option to use the ‘Send To’ menu.  This enables you to send the folder/file to a location in the menu. (See Below)

Send To Example

This post will help you to customize the items on this menu.

  1. Firstly, press the windows key and r to open Run.
  2. Then clear all text from the bar and copy+paste the following into it – %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo
    Run
  3. Then click ‘OK’
  4. You should now see a similar window to below with your normal location options listed
  5. Send to window

  6. Now say you wanted to be able to send the file/folder to ‘Documents’.  All you need to do is copy and paste a shortcut of the file/folder into the SendTo Window and then it’s there ready to use!
