BBC iPlayer – catch up on missed TV!
November 30, 2007 – 5:15 pmI am not much of a TV addict to be honest, mainly as I am always out! But I do like to watch Top Gear when it is on. I was watching it on You Tube until the BBC put a stop to that. However I recently came across BBC’s iPlayer! I knew it was in Beta, but when I last checked they were not accepting any more users. But now it is open to all! (Still in Beta though)
So I downloaded and registered (free, just need your email address and a few details really). I have to say I am very impressed, the quality is just what is needed and the iPlayer software works well and most importantly is easy to use.
The way it works is that you can download many (not all) of the programs shown on the BBC channels (one, two, three, four, cbbc, cbeebies, news, news 24 & parliament) over the last 7 days. Once downloaded you have 29 days to play the program and can watch it as many times as you like BUT once you have played it once (or started playing it) you can only watch it for the next 7 days and then it expires. Which to be honest is fine, otherwise my machine would fill up with Top Gear and QI episodes that I am unlikely to watch ever again!
You need a broadband internet connection to download these programs, otherwise it would take far too long but other than that and Internet Explorer (firefox isn’t supported
) you just need a PC with speakers!
A new way to watch TV on demand, check out BBC iPlayer Website for more details and to download the software.
Enjoy!

I just thought I’d add for those of you who don’t know, Beta Software means that the software is like a prototype and not quite ready for official release but is still sustainable and suitable for people to use.
