iGoogle, make the most of Google!
November 20, 2007 – 4:27 pmGood Morning!
As you can imagine, here at Brandstar we spend a fair amount of time in front of our computers! If you are anything like us you will want quick access to sites and information you regularly visit! Enter iGoogle!
Formally known as Google Personalized Homepage but was renamed iGoogle at the end of April 2007!
iGoogle allows you to personalise your homepage, add “gadgets” to display information on your iGoogle page and make your life easier!
My personal iGoogle page has the following gadgets:
- Wikipedia – instant access to a wealth of information!
- Gmail – Shows me a snapshot of my most recent 5 emails and allows me to easily jump in and reply!
- Weather – Our local town as far as google weather is concerned is Brighton, so that gives me a good idea of what the weather will be like in the following five days! But you can add as many as you like, so i have Cape Town and Singapore’s weather showing too!
- 123-Reg domain name search – easily check if a domain name is available from our favourite domain name supplier!
- News Feeds from the BBC for:
- General News
- Sport – Football
- itv-F1 News Feed
- Slashdot News Feed
- Date and Time Gadget
- Ladybugs – So i can have random LadyBugs walking around my screen!! (this one probably won’t last!)
These are just the gadgets that i have got on my page but there are thousands of different gadgets you can add to make it your home page!!
Another great feature is that you can have mulitple tabs, e.g. Work, Play, News, etc Just to make use of as many gadgets as possible!
Have a go, go to www.google.co.uk and then in the top right hand corner there is an iGoogle link!
Have fun!
Graham
