How to clear the recent documents in Office 2007

In Microsoft Office 2007, Microsoft have disabled the function of being able to clear or edit the ‘recent documents list’. However, Brandstar have discovered a way to do this! All you need to do is follow the instructions below. You will need to have some knowledge of computers to do this.1. Open ‘regedit’ by clicking

  • Start’
  • ‘Run’
  • Then type ‘regedit’ in the box.
  • Then click ‘OK’

2. In ‘regedit’, navigate to the following location to clear the recent documents for word: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\FileMRU

Note: If you wish to edit the recent documents of another program in office such as Excel then edit select Excel instead of word, and your regedit location will look like this: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\FileMRU

3. Delete some or all of the entries to clear out what you need cleared out.

4. Close ‘regedit’.
