How to clear the recent documents in Office 2007
November 20, 2007 – 5:57 pmIn Microsoft Office 2007, Microsoft have disabled the function of being able to clear or edit the ‘recent documents list’. However, Brandstar have discovered a way to do this! All you need to do is follow the instructions below. You will need to have some knowledge of computers to do this.1. Open ‘regedit’ by clicking
- Start’
- ‘Run’
- Then type ‘regedit’ in the box.
- Then click ‘OK’
2. In ‘regedit’, navigate to the following location to clear the recent documents for word: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\FileMRU
Note: If you wish to edit the recent documents of another program in office such as Excel then edit select Excel instead of word, and your regedit location will look like this: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\FileMRU
3. Delete some or all of the entries to clear out what you need cleared out.
4. Close ‘regedit’.
